Based in Rochester NY, Josh Owen is an award-winning, internationally renowned industrial designer. He graduated with degrees in sculpture and visual studies from Cornell University in 1994 before completing an M.F.A. in furniture design at the Rhode Island School of Design. He established his eponymous studio in 1997. Clients include IBM, Areaware, Othr, and Umbra, among others. Josh Owens’ designs have received many awards, including Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Awardsand the Asia Design Prize. His work has been included in the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Chicago Athenaeum, and the Taiwan Design Museum, to name a few. Apart from his design work, Josh Owen is also an author and educator. He is a Professor and Chair of the Industrial Design program at The Rochester Institute of Technology and has authored the books Lenses for Design and Design for Study.
