Jean-Marie Massaud is a Paris-based architect and designer whose practice moves easily from one-off furniture to master plans. Since founding Studio Massaud in 2000, he has applied the same quest for lean, almost biological geometry to leather chairs for Poltrona Frau, the sheet-water AXOR Massaud faucet, Yamaha concept boats, and a 50,000-seat stadium for Guadalajara. Projects typically begin as hand sketches layered with airflow studies or daylight diagrams, then grow through mock-ups that keep structure, sensation, and resource use in tight dialogue. Massaud cites Enzo Mari’s material candor and the quiet rigor of Alberto Meda as touchstones, yet his own signature lies in objects that feel effortless—like the asymmetrical Seven dining table or the floating Terminal 1 chaise—while hiding considerable technical craft. Alongside practice, he lectures worldwide and maintains long-term collaborations with brands such as Armani, Cassina, and Toyota. His work now sits in design collections from Chicago to Zurich.
