After relocating to Milan in the 1970s, Sowden worked with acclaimed figures like Ettore Sottsass and Olivetti, before co-founding the Memphis Group in the 1980s. Sowden's prolific career includes the development of the widely popular SoftBrew brewing device for coffee and tea in 2010. He is a recipient of several design accolades, including the esteemed Compasso d'Oro Award.
