Brothers Gabriele and Oscar Buratti run their Milan studio much like a craftsmen’s workshop. Sketches pile up beside stone samples; arguments about a window reveal end only when someone builds a mock-up and drags it into daylight. They see no hard line between a city plan and a door handle—both, they say, have to serve the same basic need: make daily life feel calmer and more direct. Gabriele, who spent years lecturing on interior design at the Politecnico di Milano, brings a patient, analytical eye. Oscar prefers to stand on site, tape measure in hand, testing proportions against his own stride. Together they push every project through the same filter: trim away what isn’t doing real work, let materials speak in their own voice, and leave just enough room for time to add its patina.
