Since the late 1970s, Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen have worked together under a shared name, building a body of work that’s closely tied to the best of Danish furniture thinking. Both trained in craftsmanship and design, they bring a clear, no-nonsense approach to their work: furniture that’s honest in its construction, restrained in its form, and made to be lived with, not just looked at. They have never been the type to chase trends. Instead, they quietly push materials, rework familiar ideas, and find new ways to balance function and quality. Their collaborations with FDB Møbler, including reimagining classics like Poul M. Volther’s J46 chair, show how tradition and new thinking can sit easily together. Today, their designs are part of major museum collections—but it’s the everyday use of their pieces that best speaks to what they care about.
