Erik Ole Jørgensen

Designer

Erik Ole Jørgensen (1927–2002) was one of those designers who never chased attention, but whose work quietly earned lasting respect. Trained first as an upholsterer and later as a furniture architect, he had a deep understanding of how materials behave and how good design feels—not just how it looks. That instinct shows up in every piece he created: clean, simple lines, thoughtful proportions, and a real sense of tactility that invites everyday use. His background in textiles gave him an edge, allowing him to move easily between designing furniture and developing fabrics, always with a focus on craftsmanship and longevity. Working with respected names like FDB Møbler and Fredericia Furniture, he created pieces—like the iconic EJ 315 sofa—that still feel relevant decades later. Jørgensen’s work is a reminder that the best design doesn’t shout; it simply becomes part of how you live.
