Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, after meeting during their architecture studies at the Royal College of Art, embarked on a creative journey together in 1996 by establishing their studio in East London. Their work, characterized by a keen emphasis on innovation and a thoughtful approach to exploring materials and color, has significantly influenced both design and technology sectors. This partnership thrives on pushing the boundaries of industrial processes and integrating advancements in technology, while also engaging with the principles of art. Their contributions have not only led to collaborations with leading global companies but have also resulted in a wide-ranging portfolio that includes architecture, interiors, sculpture, products, and exhibition designs. Their excellence in the field has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Jerwood prize in 2004, the title of "Royal Designers for Industry" in 2007, and an appointment to the Order of the British Empire in 2013 for their service to the design industry. Their innovative designs are part of permanent collections in renowned institutions worldwide. Alongside their primary studio, they launched Universal in 2001 and Map in 2012, further expanding their influence across architecture, interiors, exhibition design, and industrial design strategy.
