Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Christien Meindertsma graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2003. Soon after, she opened her own studio and design label, Flocks. The Dutch artist and designer seeks to explore and reveal the connections between the raw materials and everyday products. Some of her projects chronicle manufacturing processes with a focus on sustainability or local production. Others aim to encourage a more nuanced understanding of modern production systems and under-explored resources. Christien Meindertsma’s award-winning work has been exhibited worldwide and has been included in the permanent collections of iconic museums. These include MoMA in New York, Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany.
