Brothers Humberto, a trained lawyer, and Fernando Campana, an accomplished architect, have been collaborating on artistic design projects in São Paolo since 1983. Their distinctive approach is marked by the use of unconventional materials, often repurposed industrial waste, echoing the possibility of social transformation within an economically challenged nation. They aim to carve a unique niche for Brazilian design on the global stage. In 1997, the brothers ventured into the Italian market, creating innovative lighting designs for O Luce. Their work has been recognized internationally, with several pieces featured in the 1997 edition of the International Design Year Book, edited by Philippe Starck. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York also highlighted their contributions in the 1998 "Progetto 66" exhibition, which they shared with renowned designer Ingo Maurer.
