Bruno Munari

Bruno Munari (1907-1998) was a true Renaissance man: artist, designer, author, researcher, and inventor. His work spans a huge range of fields, from visual arts to graphic design, sculpture, furniture design, children’s books, and film. A visionary, he has influenced many industries and art movements, including Italian modernism, futurism, and concrete art. Bruno Munari’s work is extremely varied, from his sculptural installations he called “useless machines” to paintings, collages, and furniture design. He has also created toys and written books for children that teach color, movement, and touch through kinesthetic learning. Throughout his career, Bruno Munari has received many awards, including three Compasso d'Oro awards and the Golden medal at the Triennale di Milano. His work is included in private and public collections, including in the permanent collection of MoMA, New York.
