Børge Mogensen

Designer

Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was one of the leading figures of “Danish Modern” design and popularized the movement worldwide. He studied cabinet-making before studying furniture design at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He then studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating, he worked with various design studios and collaborated with another iconic Danish designer and his former university teacher, Kaare Klint. Børge Mogensen’s designs combine function and minimalism with accessibility. In his work, he used natural materials and traditional manufacturing as well as experimental techniques. Restrained and modest, his products have a distinctive character and artistic authenticity. Børge Mogensen received The Eckersberg Medal in 1950 and was appointed Honorary Royal Designer for Industry at the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in London, UK.
