Ogasawara Cast Iron

Born in 1929 in Mizusawa, in the Iwate prefecture, Rikuchou Ogasawara was the son of an ironware craftsman. At the age of 16, he began learning the craft by working alongside his father, mastering the techniques of the renowned Nambu ironware. Later, he opened his own workshop, designing and producing innovative cast iron products that combined traditional manufacturing processes with a modern aesthetic. Rikuchou Ogasawara’s career spans over 60 years. His work includes cast iron products and accessories, all masterfully crafted using the techniques passed down for generations in the Iwate region. Designed with a modern flair, his products ignited interest in Nambu ironware, both in Japan and worldwide.
