Founded in 1920 in Romagna, Stamperia Bertozzi is a family-run workshop for hand-printed textiles. The team carves stamps from pear wood and prints by hand on linen, cotton, and wool—and, when needed, on porcelain, leather, and cashmere. Over time they’ve added hand-painting with simple tools and steady technique. About twenty people work in the studio today, including third-generation printer Gigi (Luigi’s grandson), his wife Angela, and two sisters.

Production runs on solar power. Dyes are plant-based where possible, colors are fixed with a process they developed in-house, and their trademark rust tone comes from a guarded mix of powdered iron, vinegar, and flour. Indigo is sourced from Isatis tinctoria; other hues come from regional plants and ongoing R&D. Motifs draw from the archive and the local landscape—sea, flowers, everyday textures—so new pieces sit naturally alongside a century of work.
