Alessi

Founded by Giovanni Alessi in 1921 in Omegna, Italy, Alessi began its journey as a foundry, manufacturing tableware from copper, brass, and nickel silver. As the company passed into the hands of Carlo Alessi, it started its transition from traditional craft to visionary design. This design focus was solidified under Ettore Alessi, who initiated collaborations with well-known architects and designers. Among the roster of designers Alessi has worked with are figures of immense influence like Ettore Sottsass, Jasper Morrison, Achille Castiglioni, Richard Sapper, and Philippe Starck, further positioning Alessi at the forefront of design innovation. Today, Alessi creates an array of everyday products primarily in stainless steel and plastic, but also in other materials like porcelain and wood. Its extensive history and contributions to the design world are commemorated in the Alessi Museum, established in 1998.
