Meet the cast iron frying pan that you can also use as a plate. JIU is a multifunctional skillet that allows you to cook delicious food and enjoy it guilt-free, straight out of the pan. The design was created in a collaboration between creative studio TENT and family-owned factory Fujita Metal MFG. The skillet has a wide rim which allows the user to easily attach the solid beech wood handle. An innovative mechanism brings together the two halves of the handle over the edge of the pan, creating a secure connection. After cooking, the handle is easy to detach by sliding the top section away from the pan. This way, JIU converts into a plate filled with hot, ready to eat food. This product is handmade in Japan by master craftspeople and it’s made last a lifetime. With each cooking session, JIU “matures” and becomes even easier to use. The cast iron surface is resistant to rust and non-stick as well as easy to clean with a brush and hot water. This isn’t just a plate.
