A hand-woven wool dhurrie rug made from overlapping rectangular sections. Flat underfoot, graphic in layout, with subtle variation across weave and tone.

Description

Macondo is a hand-woven wool rug made with the dhurrie technique, built from rectangular fields that overlap across the surface. The blocks sit slightly offset from one another, creating a layout that feels placed rather than patterned.

The surface stays flat and even underfoot. What shifts is the weave from section to section. Some areas feel tighter and more compact, others a touch more open, with small variations that come from the hand process instead of repetition. Short fringes at the edges soften the geometry and keep the rug from feeling too strict.

Each version uses a small set of tones arranged in clear blocks. Lighter areas open up the surface, while deeper colors give weight and definition. From across the room, the rug reads clean and graphic. Up close, the joins between sections and the changes in weave become more noticeable.

Macondo works well in living rooms, studios, and bedrooms where the floor plays an active role. It frames furniture clearly and gives the space structure without pulling attention away from everything else.

Lift solid residues carefully with the edge of a spoon or knife. Clean stains from the outside toward the center, test cleaning products in a hidden area, and use minimal mild detergent diluted in lukewarm water without soaking the fibers.
