Description

Embark on an extraordinary journey to Mars with A Voyage to the Red Planet, a visual and scientific celebration of six decades of NASA exploration. Featuring hundreds of breathtaking photographs from NASA’s archives, this volume chronicles humanity’s quest to uncover Mars’s secrets, from the first grainy close-ups captured by Mariner 4 in 1965 to the stunning vistas recorded by rovers and orbiters. Discover ancient riverbeds, towering volcanoes, polar ice caps, and dust storms through images that blur the line between science and art. Accompanied by essays from NASA luminaries James L. Green and Rob Manning, captions by planetary scientist Emily Lakdawalla, and reflections by poet Nikki Giovanni, this book bridges the gap between imagination and discovery. Whether you’re captivated by space exploration or Mars’s cultural significance, this is an essential guide to our neighboring planet’s past, present, and future.
