Look, touch, feel. A well-designed rug is much more than just a decorative accent. The Portego Oci rug is a great example. Seraina Lareida designed Oci, which translates to “eyes” in the Venetian dialect, as a graphic interpretation of Venice’s building facades. Geometric shapes and different colors intersect to create abstract compositions that celebrate the ancient city’s architecture and its many windows. The Oci series comprises different shapes, sizes, and colors, with a wide range of rugs providing a versatile solution to revamp a living space. Like other Portego rugs, Oci is handcrafted from 100% New Zealand wool yarns with a tufting technique and with different textures and patterns.

A rug can completely transform a room, but Portego Sottovolto also beautifies any living space. Designed by Seraina Lareida, the rug references the beauty of Venetian architecture and the relentless advance of water that leaves its mark on the city’s stone buildings. The design recreates a Venetian porch in a graphic pattern that also draws inspiration from Venice’s distinctive colors. Water and stone are delicately reproduced in an intricate design that uses 100% New Zealand wool. Made with a hand -tufting technique, the rug features different patterns that add a tactile feel to the design. Handcrafted in an Italian workshop, each rug is one of a kind and boasts a hexagonal shape.

Inspired by Venice, Portego Sottoportico is a contemporary rug that reinterprets the city’s fragile balance between the forces of nature and architecture. Seraina Lareida designed the rug with a structured pattern that references the porches and arched passages of Venice and the way the salty water has transformed Venetian buildings. The rug has a carefully chosen color palette which gives a nod to Venetian architecture as it rises from the lagoon. Handmade with a tufting technique, the rug features different textures created with 100% New Zealand wool yarns. Different colors and patterns give the design a distinctive look, along with the arched shape. Each Portego Sottoportico rug is handcrafted in an Italian workshop.
