Born in 1948 in Switzerland, Rudi Merz moved to Finland in the ‘80s. He started his own cabinet making and design company while also collaborating with renowned brands and working as a teacher at different arts and crafts schools. Rudi Merz currently teaches at the prestigious Aalto University in Helsinki. Throughout his work, the master furniture maker and designer focuses on sustainability and honest design. His minimalist wooden furniture is both versatile and timeless. Rudi Merz has received many awards and mentions for his designs, including two Habitare EcoDesign Awards, and his work has been exhibited in various museums across the world.
