Alvar Aalto designed the A110 ceiling lamp, playfully called Hand Grenade, in 1952. The lamp's beauty is based on its shape which is extremely simple. The lamp is formed by two cylinders, one inside the other, and the light is reflected upwards where the two cylinders join together. As a nice detail, the lamp has a perforated brass ring through which the light is diffused, reflecting downwards. As many other lamps designed by Aalto, also the Hand Grenade can be suspended in a group.
